The surreal state of our world can sometimes make it feel like we have no power.

At the same time, there are beautiful things all around us, made by hand with love and care by women. Too many of those things are cast aside as we’re encouraged to consume an endless cycle of new products that harm the people who make them and our planet. Gorgeous, handmade items end up in landfills while our homes are filled with chemical-laden items from overseas factories.

Lady Business is here to say “enough”.

Is there a way to continue fun experiences like shopping, decorating and gifting in a more responsible way?

We think the answer is yes. We also think it goes without saying that women’s talent and labour deserves to be enjoyed for generations — not sent to the landfill.

We source all of our inventory from secondhand markets and sometimes even waste streams (shocking, right?). When a treasure is showing some wear or tear we clean, mend, redesign, repurpose or restore it—sometimes with help from women in our families who have skills we never learned growing up. We’re excited to play a small part in our generation’s hopeful return to the pursuit of things that hold meaning, worth and value.

In honour of the women who created these items, and the women + children we want to empower moving forward, any/all profits will go to organizations that are making a positive difference in challenging times.
